Ms. Safaa M.S. Mourad – Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Expert – Environmental Professional and International Consultant. Ms. Mourad is a highly accomplished radiation safety and nuclear security expert with over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience in healthcare, higher education, and environmental safety. She currently serves as the University Radiation and Laser Safety Officer at the American University of Beirut, where she leads comprehensive radiation and laser safety programs. She also provides expert consultancy and safety and security training for national and international organizations.

Safaa holds a master’s in environmental science from the American University of Beirut (AUB), a BS in Physical Geography from the Lebanese University, and a Diploma in Radiologic Technology from AUB. In addition, she is a Certified Nuclear Security Specialized Professional in Radioactive Source Security Management from the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) and also holds multiple professional certifications from IAEA, the Laser Institute of America, and the Radiation Safety Academy.

Safaa is deeply committed to leadership and advocacy, serving as the Secretary General of the Arab Women Network in CBRN Security, founding and heading the Netherlands Alumni Association in Lebanon, and actively contributing to international nuclear security networks like IAEA-INSEN and INMM.
